- Anyone using a USR Sportster 28-33k??
-
- I hear all sorts of stories about them not working very well, then I hear
- that those made after june 95 (?) are ok.
-
- I want to have a modem that is close to state of the art so I can use it for
- a couple of years without having to update.
-
- I do not execpt to hook up at 33k with anyone, but what I read says that
- because of being capible of 33k it makes a good 28k hook up more likely. But
- then I hear that the 33k chip is buggy and will not hook up to anything but
- another USR with 33k, and if it does it is at a very low rate.
-
- I read the USR paper on 33k theory, it said that in order to get the higher
- speed benfits you must use a advanced software package that was free from
- them. Is this software for the modem or the computer??
-
- I have tried to talk to a real human at USR but just get thier auto message
- system or voice mail and never get to talk to a earthling.
-
- As a alterative a Motorola Lifestyle was suggested, I know no thing about
- these are they any good???????
